The Adventures of being a Mountain Realtor in California

During the years I worked as a Realtor in California I had many fun adventures. There were not many Realtors that were willing to make the hour drive up to the hills to sell mountain cabins, well, to me a nice drive in the mountains made for quite a wonderful day! I decided to make these mountain Cabins and Properties my specialty.
I absolutely love showing mountain properties and Cabins! Oftentimes in the area I specialized in we were touring cabins that had been passed down through the generations, or owned by one family for many many years. I just loved seeing the older pieces of Art, Glasswork, furniture, even fun shag carpet made me smile! There was one cabin that I will never forget, they had an amazing old fashioned tabletop clock collection. There were at least 75 of them on shelves that lined the top of the living areas. It was like walking through a museum. I really love to go thrift store and antique shopping because I often get to see items that are a blast from the past! I think I have an inner 95 year old little woman inside me because I just love vintage stuff! One of my favorite items right now is a nice bright orange recliner from the 70's. When I would walk into Cabins that had original Olive Green or Yellow appliances it never failed to put a smile on my face.
I used to sell a lot of Cabins up in the little mountain city called Posey. To get there took me almost an hour and a half. During the spring I got to enjoy all the beautiful wildflowers, Turkeys showing off their best fluffed up selves, and there was a really cool longhorn bull ranch that was always fun to drive by. One of my favorite memories was always when I came across a good old cattle roundup! While it was not ideal to come across when I was on my way to meet clients at our meeting spot, it sure was fun to see. One time I was heading up and they had to be moving at least 100 Cattle up the road. I had to get to my appointment so I had to drive right through the middle of all the cattle, all the while trying not to spook them or have them kick my car. It was a crazy moment but one I will not forget!

I ran into these same ranchers a few times on my way up to Posey, but this was undoubtedly the largest herd of cattle I had ever seen them move. During the Spring time we had lots of Turkeys that liked to strut their stuff! Not many people hunt the Turkeys up where we lived so there were some pretty big Rafters or Flocks of Turkeys. They males sure did like to show off!
The views on my way to my appointments were always something I looked forward to. Often I would start out earlier in the day heading up the hill and by the time I came back down I was treated to some pretty amazing sunsets.
Often times when I would show mountain properties in the summertime I would make the drive even more fun by driving my "Classic" Chrysler LeBaron Convertible. Oh how I loved that car. If there is one thing I regret selling when moving to Georgia, it would be selling my beloved "White Lightening," That car and I had soooo many fun times together! One of my favorite places to drive her was up to Camp Nelson and Ponderosa. The drive was so dramatic as you made your way from the valley all the way up to the High Sierras at around 7,500 feet in elevation. You were able to see everything from the farmlands, to the towering Giant Sequoias that I love so much! I would often take a lunch with me and have little picnics all over in the forests where I headed to show properties.
One the way back down one of my favorite things to do was to stop at the natural spring. California is such a dry place in Summer, but this spring always flowed and it came out of the hill crisp and cool. Oftentimes I would pour out my bottled water just so that I could refill my bottle with this crisp cool spring water! Its was so delicious and it was just plain fun to do!
During my time as a Mountain Realtor I sold everything from little $70,000 dollar mini cabins all the way up to a 4.8 million dollar ranch with an AMAZING home that had been designed by a famous architect. It was truly a sight to see. It was a large cattle ranch that included a trap shooting gallery, cattle arena's, Barns, and multiple other homes all on one large property. That was a huge deal with lots of things to negotiate and many things to inspect. It was such a wonderful opportunity that taught me a great deal that I can now put forward to any future large property deals that I may encounter. Here are the photos of that beautiful home. The property was so beautiful with many large old age Oak Trees, Beautiful Ponds, and sitting down in the mountain valley in Springville where they enjoyed views of the high sierras and surrounding foothills.

Moving to north Georgia I have been able to see so many amazing Cabins. While my adventure here in Georgia is new, I am absolutely looking forward to many cabin exploring expeditions with my clients! There is so much fun to be had while touring properties! I know I make it all sound like it is fun and exciting, and for me it is. I do want to ensure people that while I truly enjoy my job and have fun with them while out on the hunt for that perfect property, when it comes to negotiating and looking out for their best interest I am 100% on their side and I always do all that I can possibly do to make purchasing a home happen with as little stress as possible!
